W. Bishop, Former Magazine Editor, Dies J. Warren Bishop, 69, Labor Department commissioner of conciliation and managing editor of Nation's Business from 1923 to 1937, died yesterday as he entered the Westchester Apartments, 4000 Cathedral avenue N.W., where he lived. Mr. Bishop, who had been with the Labor Department since April, 1942, serving in the Detroit and Philadelphia areas, had been on leave for the several months because of ill health.

A former New York newspaperman, Mr. Bishop was named associate editor of Nation's Business in April, 1920, and became managing editor three years later. He was the author of many articles on business and economics. In 1937 he resigned from the Nation's Business to found the Manufacturers' New Letter, which he edited and published for several years. Mr.

Bishop was a reporter on the New York Times from 1895 to 1896 and with the New York Sun from 1896 to 1920. At the time of his resignation he was night editor of the paper. Born in St. Johnsbury, he was a graduate of Dartmouth College in the class of 1895 and the New York Law School. widow, Mrs.

Edna Dashiell Bishop, and a son, Warren Bishop, survive. Arrangements for funeral services have not been completed. E. J. Dickson Dead; Retired U.S.

Employe Edward J. Dickson, 76, of 534 Taylor street chief of the stenographic section of the Agriculture Department's economic section, died Wednesday at Garfield Hospital after a brief illness. A native of New York, Mr. Dickson joined the department in 1907, remaining there until his retirement in 1937. He came to the District in 1900, working several years for the Census Bureau.
