Despite being just a few days old, the tiny crew is raising awareness of American Heart Month. Dressed in red onesies and matching hats, the babies are not only cute, but effective, reminding us to stay healthy and get regular heart screenings.

Dr. Christopher Mahida says if you have any family heart history and are pregnant, it's important to tell your OB/GYN.

Even without that family history, keeping your heart healthy is vital for you and your baby.

"When you undergo a pregnancy, when you're caring for a baby, it can really cause shifts in your blood pressure as well, too," Mahida explained. "So, if you have a preexisting problem with blood pressure, we want to get it identified early and then throughout the entire pregnancy. [It's] Super important to keep checked in with your OB/GYN doctor to make sure that one baby's safe. But then mom safe as well, too."

Mahida also says heart rates tend to go up with pregnancy, but if your blood pressure goes up, you need to give your doctor a call.

Alex Ward, a new mom, says her heart health was vital throughout her pregnancy.

"I would say I was definitely really important. I mean, every OB visit, they would check my heart rate, they would check his heart rate, just make sure that we were both happy and healthy," Ward said.

No matter your age, it's important to stay active, eat healthy and get regular heart screenings. When it comes to staying active, one of the best things you can do is walking.
